Smoked Manhattan - Pontotoc Lounge

Pontotoc Lounge has been open in the South Main Art District since 2014. After changes in management, they revamped everything. Pontotoc now adds to the soul of the city with a culture that will give you all the feels of a 1930's jazz club, highlighted with a beautiful chandelier and mural of Billie Holiday. Pontotoc offers variety of libations, superb service, gourmet food, and the smoothest of jazz. But where Pontotoc really shines is the carefully crafted cocktails. One of the most unique and my favorite is the Smoked Manhattan, which I have come to affectionately call the "MEMhattan".

As a former bartender, I can admit the creativity and art behind a cocktail like the Smoked Manhattan, is to be admired. Hailing in Memphis, a city where one of the biggest events in the summer is the Memphis in May BBQ Fest, this cocktail is definitely a hometown favorite of mine. Mixed with Bulleit Rye Whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters, the cocktail is smoked with hickory wood, giving it immense flavor and character. This is a drink to be enjoyed and sipped as to embrace every moment in the experience.

The Smoked Manhattan at Pontotoc is my favorite drink at Pontotoc but the menu has plenty of carefully crafted cocktails. The staff are very knowledgeable about the different menu items they offer. So if you love jazz, great ambiance, and savory dishes, you should pay them a visit. My favorite libations: Smoked Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Penicillin, French 95, & Sazerac My favorite meals: Shrimp & Grits, Mississippi Pot Roast, Fettuccine, Pork Belly
